Christmas Carnival

The Remembrance service at my church was asked by Sharefest to put on a Christmas Carnival in Wilmington. Originally it was supposed to be at Fries (pronounced "freeze") Avenue Elementary school, which is where I went to elementary school. Unfortunately it got moved to the Wilmington Town Square Park, which I know as the small grassy area where the bums usually hang out.

Thankfully, they weren't there Saturday morning for our event. We were in charge of several games and a craft.
The craft was a clothespin reindeer ornament. Apparently it was very challenging! Whoops.
We also did a fishing game where kids cast a "fishing" line (aka twine)and they catch a grab bag.

We also did the Lollipop Game where a child chooses a lollipop from about 60 lollipops. If the child chooses one that has red markings on the bottom they won a stuffed animal, but if the lollipop they choose doesn't have red markings they just get to keep the lollipop. We were all really surprised at how long that game lasted! Apparently, kids tend to pick from the front! Here is one of the volunteers trying to encourage a girl into choosing somewhere else besides the front.
There was also a bowling game which was really popular!

Sachin was part of the team that did a hula hoop toss. What a great idea, don't you think? Here's Nicole giving pointers:
We also had a bead craft table at the event.
And of course face painting!
We had a "Pin the Nose on Rudolph" game too.

There were a few other games that the kids loved and they also had a toy give-away (MacDonalds donated them since they can't give toys in Happy Meals any more). It was a great success!
